Playback 2018/19

former cinema Delfin, Gdansk-Oliwa, Poland
sound

Polonia was the first cinema in post-war Poland. It replaced the former Roxy cinema and in 1952 was renamed to Delfin. The inaugural screening at Delfin was a Czechoslovak war comedy Nikdo nic neví. In 1993 the cinema Delfin was closed.

The sound-work Playback refers to the history of the place. Standing in front of the former cinema entrance, the beholder was able to hear the original film soundtrack (with the Polish voice-over translation) accompanied by actual sounds of the town.
